Yoga Teacher Training Course with IKIGAI Team
(Leah, Gianni, Aymeric, Arvind, Bhakti)

Develop the skills to teach yoga asana, while deepening your spiritual connection to yoga. You will establish a firm foundation of discipline that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. You will also build a strong base from which to teach others naturally and with confidence.

The Teacher Training Course (TTC) is a 10-Weekend intensive course. You will closely interact with a team of experienced and dedicated IKIGAI teachers, who have immersed themselves in the yogic lifestyle whilst living in the modern world.

The lead teachers in this training are: Leah Melwani, Gianni Melwani (Founder) and Aymeric Vollant (Founder). There will also be other teachers involved for specific modules: Prenatal expert Bhakti Wong and IKIGAI veteran teacher Arvind Singh. Please see Course Curriculum below.

This course is an open-level training suitable for students who want to understand more about yoga and take their practice to the next level. It is also for students who have already completed a 200Hr training in the past and wish to refresh their knowledge and upgrade their practice.

It is also important to note that although upon completion of the course you will become a certified teacher, taking a yoga teacher training course is NOT ONLY for those who want to become teachers. It is a transformative experience for anyone who wants to understand the true meaning of yoga, health and happiness!

The curriculum is extensive and covers both theory and practice. Devotional practices, traditional to India, are an integral part of the course.

About Teaching Team

  • Leah started dancing at the early age of three and quickly fell in love with all aspects of dance and performance. She trained in ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary and musical theatre for over 15 years before furthering her training at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts. She graduated with Special Merit and went on to perform for many reputable brands across the world.

Leah has has always loved learning about the body. Therefore she quickly fell in love with the practice of Yoga and its philosophy.

Leah is a Lululemon Ambassador and has completed two YTT’s. The first at Anahata Yoga, Hong Kong and the second at The Sivananda Ashram at the foothills of the Himalayas in India. Both teacher trainings were life changing for Leah and she feels extremely blessed to be able to teach something she loves so much.

  • Having lived in an ashram at the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, Gianni gained valuable knowledge from Sannyasins - those who have renounced their material possessions and emotional ties so they can devote themselves wholly to the pursuit of spiritual understanding.

Gianni completed his training at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and was awarded with the title Yoga Siromani (Crown Jewel of Yoga). He has since studied with mentors from the lineages of Sivananda, Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and Bihar School of Yoga.

His easy-going and non-judgmental demeanour is coupled with discipline and resilience. Gianni finds fulfilment in seeing others tap in to their potential. To him, real yoga begins off the mat.

Gianni is the Co-Founder of IKIGAI.

  • Aymeric believes that Yoga and music are essential components of the journey towards discovering one's purpose in life. He sees them as tools that can aid individuals in navigating challenges and realizing their ambitions in a grounded and relaxed manner.

He applies this philosophy to his work, drawing on his experiences as both a musician and co-founder of IKIGAI to create meaningful connections between sound, wellness, and personal growth.

With an innate entrepreneurial spirit, Aymeric integrates the creativity and innovation of his music production background into his approach to leadership and business management.

His entrepreneurial spirit, combined with nearly a decade of experience working in the wellness industry, has positioned him as a respected voice within the community.

  • Throughout Arvind’s yoga journey he came across great yogis, saints and sages, gaining insightful knowledge and experience from them.

Arvind has been teaching yoga in Hong Kong since 2007. Under his guidance many of his students live more fulfilled, balanced, joyful and peaceful lives. He aims to help his students fulfil their own true potential.

Arvind is committed to the science of yoga and pays close attention to psychological and physiological states. He believes that practising asana is only the beginning. It leads to other aspects of yoga and self-actualisation.

  • Somatic Therapist, Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher, Prenatal Yoga Expert

Bhakti first discovered yoga in 2002 whilst looking for an effective, travel-friendly exercise that worked with her demanding, frequent-flyer corporate career. The convenience of being able to keep fit wherever there is space for simply a bath towel appealed greatly to her sense of practicality! Before long, doing asanas was not enough, and she pursued the study of yoga, mindfulness and a bit more anatomy!

Today, Bhakti is a somatic therapist, and yoga and mindfulness teacher. In her classes, Bhakti helps to educate and empower individuals to find their inner alignment, and to make better choices towards their optimal growth. She integrates anatomical, psychological, and spiritual solutions into her work, with a focus on four core concepts: gentleness, non-violence, compassion and mindfulness.

Based in Hong Kong, Bhakti facilitates group workshops, private retreats and also leads trainings as well as continuing education and mentorship programmes.

  • Yes! Firstly Yoga is more than just the physical poses. However due to the way the course is designed, you will learn and improve along the journey. It is still suggested that a student should have a basic level of practice before joining the training instead of being a complete beginner. This will lead to a much faster improvement during the course.

Students attending the training do not need to have an advanced practice. Generally many students were unable to perform advanced poses before starting a TTC but achieved them during the course.

  • Students with a few months of practice who wants to deepen their understanding of Yoga should take this training. A group class setting does not give students the chance to explore, clear doubts, ask questions, practice in much more detail - which a TTC does. If you are interested in the history, philosophy and ethics; teaching methodology; anatomy and physiology; techniques, training, and practice of Yoga, it’s time to embark on your TTC journey!

  • This training will be conducted in English. The study manual is also in English. However our IKIGAI staff team is always there to help should you need any further understanding or translation.
