200-Hour Teacher Training Course with Ranjit

  • IKIGAI Central 11-15 On Lan Street Central, Hong Kong Island Hong Kong SAR China (map)

Teacher Training Course

Develop the skills to teach yoga asana, while deepening your spiritual connection to yoga. You will establish a firm foundation of discipline that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. You will also build a strong base from which to teach others naturally and with confidence.

The Teacher Training Course (TTC) is a 10-Weekend intensive course. You will closely interact with lead teacher Ranjit Nekhar, who is immersed in the yogic lifestyle whilst living in the modern world.

This course is an open-level training suitable for students who want to understand more about yoga and take their practice to the next level. It is also for students who have already completed a 200Hr training in the past and wish to refresh their knowledge and upgrade their practice.

It is also important to note that although upon completion of the course you will become a certified teacher, taking a yoga teacher training course is NOT ONLY for those who want to become teachers. It is a transformative experience for anyone who wants to understand the true meaning of yoga, health and happiness!

The curriculum is extensive and covers both theory and practice. Devotional practices, traditional to India, are an integral part of the course.

Reviews

I am glad to have the opportunity to learn yoga with Ranjit. Despite practicing yoga for 10+ years, there were some parts of my body which were either weak or lacked flexibility. Ranjit was able to help me improve in all these areas and more. He is patient and understands what I need. Not only does he teach yoga, he also shares yoga philosophy which helps my practice grow further.

- Ivy

Ranjit is my very first instructor who made me realise the greatness of yoga! His classes never fail to challenge my body and inspire my spirit. His thoughtfully themed training, precise alignment cues, attentive presence, and most of all, his examples of living what he teaches, have helped me to refine my practice and person-hood on and off the mat. I am glad that I found the finest teacher in my yoga journey.

- Jenny

I'm very grateful to have met Ranjit as my mentor in my yoga journey. His best trait is his ability to combine spiritual teachings of yoga with the scientific approach of anatomy. He doesn't just guide you into a pose. He wants his students to understand every muscular movement that supports our bodies into the pose. Sometimes we fail to realise that how we feel after the pose is equally as important as achieving and staying in a pose, and his teachings guide you to go in and out of a pose with ease. I injured my right hip after taking a 200-hr YTT and ever since felt an underlying pain whenever I practice asana. Ranjit taught me how to use and strengthen the right muscles so that I no longer felt this underlying pain in my right hip. I whole-heartedly recommend Ranjit to anyone that wants to deepen their understanding of asana and yoga!

- Julie

  • Ranjit was raised in a Yoga family and was destined to follow the path of Yoga and spirituality. He began to learn various aspects of Yoga under the patronage of his elder sister when he was fourteen.

Ranjit was always fascinated by yoga sequences. Because of his passion for Yoga, teaching came naturally to him. He has been teaching Yoga for over ten years in India, China, and Hong Kong. This wealth of experience has endowed him with a gentle grace that is both admirable and a pleasure to be around.

Ranjit has led numerous workshops, trainings and classes on various aspects of Yoga, meditation, and philosophy. He weaves the tangible, physical power of asana with the wisdom of Yoga.

Today, Ranjit is a well-versed Yogi whose flow classes are strong, creative, mindful, and intelligently sequenced. His classes emphasise the subtle aspects of mindfulness and alignment towards deeper layers of the physical body. He unravels the deeper layers of self by engaging with students in open, honest and challenging discussions. He is known for his common sense and practicality, as well as his knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and food science.

Yes. Upon completion of the training, you can apply as 200h RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance.

  • Yes. Upon successful completion of programme requirements, and following the code of conduct – students will receive a Certificate of Completion for this teacher training programme.

  • Students undergoing this training must be fully committed and understand that at least 95% full attendance is required. Ideally 100%, but we understand sometimes things can happen in life.

In case of absence due to emergency or other major commitments, students need to take responsibility to study the missed lessons. Please speak with us prior to the course commencement date if any special arrangements are needed.

Only with proper attendance and completion of the course including outside assignments will students receive a certificate of completion.

  • Yes! Firstly Yoga is more than just the physical poses. However due to the way the course is designed, you will learn and improve along the journey. It is still suggested that a student should have a basic level of practice before joining the training instead of being a complete beginner. This will lead to a much faster improvement during the course.

Students attending the training do not need to have an advanced practice. Generally many students were unable to perform advanced poses before starting a TTC but achieved them during the course.

  • Students with a few months of practice who wants to deepen their understanding of Yoga should take this training. A group class setting does not give students the chance to explore, clear doubts, ask questions, practice in much more detail - which a TTC does. If you are interested in the history, philosophy and ethics; teaching methodology; anatomy and physiology; techniques, training, and practice of Yoga, it’s time to embark on your TTC journey!

  • This training will be conducted in English. The study manual is also in English. However our IKIGAI staff team is always there to help should you need any further understanding or translation.
